Mixed-use Refurbishment & Roof Space Development

Rosenthaler Straße 2, Berlin-Mitte

Work stages: 1-5, quality control

Complete refurbishment and roof space development of a mixed-use listed building.

The design resulted in 8 residential units, 5 of which are maisonettes on the 3rd floor and roof level. In the roof spaces, dropped ceilings were avoided creating spaces up to 4.5 m (15’) high up to the ridge. Large roof terraces or balconies were made available to all the units. There are 4 shops on the ground floor some now used for gastronomy, and a large office space on the 1st floor. The basement was converted to provide extra space for the shops. A lift was installed in the building’s interior due to lack of space in the courtyard.
