Residential Roof Space Development
Work stages: 1-8
Roof space extension to an existing turn of the century flat.
The conversion consisted of connecting a roof space with a 4th floor flat by means of a new opening and hanging staircase. In the roof space, the client left his mark on the interior by finding an old metal spiral staircase which was integrated into the design and provides access to a gallery which is made possible by the extreme ceiling heights. Another client wish was to be able to push the bath tub out onto the newly created terrace. The modern minimalist design provides a clean backdrop to the antique elements which the client introduced – an intelligent form of recycling.
The roof spaces were designed with generous skylights and large terraces to the street and courtyard. Some of the works were carried out by the client himself.
